Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy helps manage physical pain and enhance mental wellness. It relieves our bodies by manipulating our soft tissues. Several Eastern and Western historical scriptures have cited massage therapy as one of the earliest tools people used to relieve pain. Massage therapy is especially useful for relieving the stiff muscles of our body.

Massage therapy is highly effective for the following conditions:

  • Low-Back Pain

  • Neck and Shoulder Pain

  • Osteoarthritis of the Knee

  • Headaches

Physiotherapy

Medical professionals have historically relied on four approaches to manage injuries, diseases, and other conditions: medication, surgery, psychology, and physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy has historically been recognized as the key to recovery. Orthopedic issues affecting mobility and function are widespread health complaints, often requiring physical intervention in the form of exercise, massage, and soft tissue manipulation.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a manual treatment classified as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). It is based on manual contact for diagnosis and treatment. Osteopathy stresses the importance of the body's structural and functional integrity as well as the body's intrinsic ability for self-healing. Osteopaths use numerous manual techniques to treat somatic dysfunction in order to enhance physiological functions. Researchers have found positive effects of osteopathic procedures in managing bodily dysfunctions. Similarly, European studies suggest that osteopathy can be used as an adjuvant treatment for clubfoot complications and reducing gastrointestinal problems.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves inserting thin, metal needles to stimulate specific points of the body that reach meridians. These stimulation points are called acupuncture points or acupoints. Traditional Chinese medicine finds 365 acupuncture points on 20 meridians of the human body. Acupuncture typically requires 15 to 30 minutes of manipulating the needles in these acupuncture points and 30 to 60 minutes of retaining the needles. Doing so regulates the flow of qi throughout the body and restores mind and body health; thus, balancing yin and yang.

Orthotics

Orthotics are used to alter or modify foot function. Orthotics are orthopedic devices designed to treat, adjust, and support various biomechanical foot disorders. Some orthotics are simple, commercially-made devices, such as cushioned heel cups or shoe insoles. These are available off-the-shelf from any Departmental store. However, the most effective orthotics are custom-made devices crafted to meet a particular individual's unique needs.

Custom orthotics are created using an impression of the foot. This impression is referred to as a cast, duplicating foot structure misalignments. Using the cast, technicians in an orthotic laboratory design a device that balances out deformities and corrects misalignments. The finished orthotic is placed in your shoe to support and eliminate abnormal foot biomechanics by properly aligning the foot. Depending on the patient’s needs, the orthotic may have padding to cushion the foot and make it more comfortable. Orthotics can be made available at our clinic on request.

Stockings & Braces

Bauerfeind Train active supports help alleviate joint pain. Stockings and braces are stretchable, breathable, knitted fabric with elastic profile inserts. They support and massage the joint with every movement. This stimulates blood circulation and supports the healing process. They are easy to put on and do not constrict movement.

Stockings and braces are especially useful for ankle, knee, spine, hand, elbow, and shoulder pain.
